If you are tired of shaving continuously to get a hair-free, smooth skin, don’t like waxing after every week, or are sensitive to the same days, it’s time to think about using laser hair removal treatment. After all, the process has its fair share of benefits, which is why it’s quickly becoming a popular choice for the modern women.

Care to Take Before the Treatment

  • Once you have planned to undergoing this treatment, it’s advisable to limit waxing, plucking, and electrolysis for six weeks prior to the treatment, as these procedures temporarily remove the hair’s roots, which the laser targets. So, not refraining from them may make your laser hair removal not as effective as you might have wanted it to be.
  • Since the regions needing treatment should be as light as possible, you should stay away from tanning 2 weeks prior to your treatment. It’s also advisable to shun sunless tanning products prior to your appointments.
  • Sun exposure should also be avoided for six weeks before the treatment, as it triggers complications after treatment and makes it less effective.
  • Avoid bleaching any hair to be treated, or try lightening its color.
  • You should consult the clinic where you are scheduled to undergo laser hair removal to let them know about any medications that increase sensitivity to light (such as several anti fungal and antibiotic medications), which you might be taking currently or have taken in the past 6 months.
  • Make sure to remove all makeup before your treatment.

  • Avoid sun exposure for six weeks after the treatment.
  • Immediate and continuous working under halogen lights or tanning should be avoided.
  • The treated areas may show immediate redness (erythema), which usually subsides within a few minutes or hours. Such redness usually indicates that hair follicles have been effectively damaged, which is why it’s considered to be a desired side effect.
  • Pigmentation is yet another common after-effect, which is temporary, and fades away within 2 weeks. However, you can speed up the fading process by applying vitamin E to the affected regions.

So, stick to these pre- and post-treatment care tips to benefit the most from your laser hair removal process.
